Rooms
They are large and elegantly furbished in blue and creamy color shades. However the furniture do show some sign of age and looks a little tired. Bathrooms are large and each has a bath and separate shower stand.
Restaurant
The guests have a choice of Chinese, Japanese, Italian or local cuisine to choose from.
General
Though in need of a little refurbishment in some areas, the hotel has overall maintain its deluxe standard and is ideal for both fit and groups.

1. The hotel is under renovations. although the rooms have been refreshed with paint & carpet it still has old fittings. In 4 days a light switch wasen't fixed, the safe was left locked but no one came to open after our requests. We had 2 rooms, in one the toilet seat was cracked and old. Better hotels in the area, would not stay again.

3. Room safety deposit box was locked on the day we check-in, I called the asst. manager a number of times but nobody came to unlock it til the day we check-out. I stayed in the same room 6 yrs ago when it was in top condition but now it really needs a very good facelift badly. The bathtub mixer is broken, the fridge was not in good condition and water dripped out onto carpet, stained on the bedspread cover, no welcome fruit basket as mentioned and a can of coke missing from the fridge.

5. The room that I was staying was basically fine, except for the fact that the bathtub water comes out green in colour. I highlighted it to the housekeeping personnel but they couldn''t/didn''t do anything about it. I believe something should have been arranged for me to enjoy a hot bathtub bath, which is one of the downturns during my stay at Istana. Other than this incident, the room was clean and fresh towels and other toiletries were replenished accordingly. I believe the hotel should have arranged something about my bathtub water, but nothing was done.

7. Very comfortable hotel with excellent standard of service. Particularly enjoyed the satay and beef rendang in the restaurant.

8. Good value for money. However, would be good if there is a transfer service from KTM station to Hotel.
