INTRODUCTION

Kuala Kubu Bharu is a town in Selangor, Malaysia.

DIRECTIONS TO KUALA KUBU BAHRU

By bus

To/From Kuala Lumpur:

Bus services are somewhat inconvenient but not impossible. Take a Megacoach bus (destination "Tanjung Malim") from Kuala Lumpur's Puduraya bus terminal or outside the Sinar Kota building on Jalan Tun Perak. The buses are not known to run on schedule and a real pain locating their boarding point.

A better bet is to travel by rail on the KTM Kommuter to Rawang where there are many local Uptownace buses to Kuala Kubu Bahru (KKB).

To/From Raub

Two services operated by Lin Siong Omnibus run between KKB and Raub in Pahang, where there are connections to Jerantut for Taman Negara National Park. Buses leave at 1030 and 1600. Amazingly, these departures are punctual. The 1030 trip goes via Fraser's Hill while the 1600 trip only passes by The Gap, 8km from the hill resort.

On the other direction, buses from Raub depart at 0830 and 1330. The later trip goes up toFraser's Hill before proceeding to KKB. The morning trip passes by The Gap without going up to the hill resort.

To/From Fraser's Hill

One bus service, operated by Lin Siong Omnibus, goes directly to Fraser's Hill from KKB daily. The bus departs at 1030. The bus then proceeds to Raub in Pahang. The return trip to KKB departs Fraser's Hill at 1445. This bus originates from Raub.

THINGS TO DO

See

  • Sungai Selangor Dam. Get a view of the dam on you drive up to Fraser's Hill - make a stop over at the Splash Information Centre. For directions to get there, look for the first visible sight of the dam when you are driving from the town of Kuala Kubu Bahru towards Fraser's Hill. Keep an eye out on the left side of the road for the Splash Information Centre. Ample parking is available.

At this new & modern information centre with air condition and great views of the dam, you will also find pertinent information on how the dam came about. Worth a stop over if you are in Kuala Kubu Bahru.

Do

  • Hike to the Chiling Waterfall. Visiting this waterfall requires some hiking and river crossing. Recommended for the adventurous. Proper footwear is advised E.g. Sandals with ankle straps. Prepare to spend 3-4 hours tracking in and back. To get there, look out for the steel bridge on the way to Fraser's Hill. Pass the bridge & park on the left side of the road with a small clearing. It is advisable to remove all valuables & secure your car as there have been reports of cars being broken into. Cross the road and look for the trek that will lead you to the waterfall. The trek is great for novices but unsuitable for the "not so sure-footed." Caution: It is advised not to trek during a rainy day as water levels can rise rapidly.
