INTRODUCTION
Lake Pedu (Tasik Pedu) is in Kedah of Malaysia.
A huge man made lake surrounded by virgin tropical rainforest and fringed by mountain ranges. It is situated at the Malaysia-Thailand border. The lake serves as a Dam for irrigation of padi field. Pedu Dam is connected to Muda Dam through a underground tunnel.
History
Lake pedu is a man made lake created in 1966 partly as a mean to deter communist movement in the region.

DIRECTIONS TO PEDU
By Car
1) Northern access: From Alor Star, drive towards Pokok Sena and Kuala Nerang. Turn right at a junction at Kuala Nerang town. From there, the last 45 minutes pass through steep and undulating moutainous jungle road by the lake side. certain sections are 20 degree steep.
2) Southern access: Get out from Gurun exit via North South Highway, drive towards Jeniang. Follows the abundant road sign along the road. 2 hours drive. The last 45 minutes pass through beautiful mountainous jungle road.

Beautiful lake, virgin tropical rainforest. Gigantic trees in the jungle is a magnificient sight. From month June - October, wild honey bee will build their nest on the top of Tualang tree (a type of forest tree with white trunk). Honey collector will climb the 50m tall tree to collect honey
Mutiara Pedu has traditional Malay village type chalet built surrouding the fringe of a small island. A beautiful scenery by itself. The resort has the great Pedu lake at one side, and the scenic mountain range bordering Malaysia and Thailand at the other side. The highest peak is Gunung Fakir Terbang (meaning the flying poor man mountain in Malay)
Do
1) Jungle trekking trip can be organized from Mutiara Pedu Lake Resort. RM20 per pax. 3 choices. Hard trail : 3.5 hours, medium trail: 2.5 hours, easy trail : 1.5 hours. A must do activity. Some climbing down rocky wall using rope is needed in the hard and medium trail. There is a waterfall towards the end of all the three trails. Trek trails the fringe of Gunung Fakir Terbang.

3) Relax at the resort, which is equip with Astro, swimming pool and pool. It even has an unusable golf course (as of july 2006)

There is no nearby town around. Eating is only possible in resort.
