Introduction:
Langkawi Island
Visit Laman Padi, a rice garden for an insight into rice cultivation - the oldest agricultural occupation in Malaysia. Then drive through the villages passing vast padi fields and coconut palms where water buffalos roam freely. Visit a rubber estate for a hands-on experience of rubber tapping.
Next stop is at a local medicine shop to learn about the medical value of some local plants and herbs. Experience afternoon tea at a typical Malay coffee shop where local coffee, ‘teh tarik', curry puffs, spring rolls and banana fritters are served. Before returning to hotel, visit the region's largest Snake Sanctuary at Kampong Tok Senik.
